The eLearning Africa Podcast Featuring Mark West, Education Specialist, UNESCO

Join us for the latest eLearning Africa Podcast - In Conversation with Mark West. Chatting with Rob Vember, Mark provides a sobering assessment of how the world has fared regarding education during the Covid-19 pandemic. Describing it as a story of "exclusion, heightened inequities, diminished learning, and diminished educational experiences". West acknowledges the need to look at how educational technologies can improve learning and efficiencies but emphasises the fundamental need for providers of education to look at how they can contribute to the holistic wellbeing of learners. Mark shares Unesco's ideas on how to better centre society's most marginalised, advocates for more online public spaces for public education, and emphasises the need for creativity and pedagogical innovation about how to use the strengths of the digital space to improve teaching and learning.

eLearning Africa 2022 in Review

Download our Post Event Report of eLearning Africa 2022 which took place in Kigali, Rwanda in May 2022.

With a total of 1084 participants from over 70 countries, 70+ sessions, 12 pre-conference events and 70 exhibitors,  the 2022 edition of eLearning Africa was considered a splendid success.

Communiqué: The 14th Ministerial Round Table took place on May 11, 2022

The 14th Ministerial Round Table took place in Kigali, Rwanda on May 11, 2022 and addressed the theme: "Getting Back on Track - Practical Steps towards 2063": A decade ago, in its Agenda 2063, the AU set out its vision of a 'transformed continent' and the various aspirations it had for improvements in the quality of life of ordinary Africans. Since then, Africa and the rest of the world have had to contend with a devastating pandemic. It has interrupted progress and upset plans. It has also created new opportunities. As Africa begins a process of greater integration with the creation of ACFTA, African leaders still face the challenge of rapid technological change and growing, increasingly urban populations. How can they move beyond the pandemic, learn its lessons and get back on track towards 2063?
